Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Dickenson County Criminal History. Browsing a page, reading its content, or submitting a search means that you accept every term below. Do not continue to use the website if you disagree with any condition.

NO FCRA USE. Dickenson County Criminal History is privately operated and has no affiliation with a local, Virginia, or federal government body. This website and its advertising partners do not offer services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another purpose governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The resource identifies Dickenson County, Virginia record sources. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government relationship. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve a record, conduct an official background check, or submit papers for a visitor.

Its role is to identify the custodians of Dickenson County criminal records, including the Sheriff, court clerks, Virginia State Police CARE/CCRE, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Some pages also connect users with outside research tools. Virginia public-record access is governed by the Virginia Freedom of Information Act, § 2.2-3700 et seq., while dissemination of criminal-history record information is separately controlled by § 19.2-389.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you must not:

  • Use the site in violation of federal, Virginia, or local law
  • Threaten, stalk, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use the content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Attempt unauthorized entry into any system or account
  • Deploy a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool
  • Interfere with site performance or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from this website or a linked tool to intimidate, stalk, threaten, harass, or discriminate against anyone. Misuse can be criminal. This restriction is especially important for the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. Virginia Code § 9.1-918 penalizes specified misuse of registry information. Public notice supports safety awareness, not vigilantism, blacklisting, or discriminatory action.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA and do not create consumer reports, credit reports, or background checks. Our advertising partners and this site do not provide a service intended to assess applicants, renters, insurance risk, or credit. You agree that neither site content nor linked-tool data will be used to:

  • Make an employment decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Set insurance terms or assess creditworthiness
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or public program
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A lawful check for a regulated purpose must be obtained from Virginia State Police CARE/CCRE or a provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is not legal advice. General explanations about Dickenson County records cannot determine how a warrant, charge, conviction, sealing rule, or expungement law affects a specific matter. Seek advice from a Virginia-licensed attorney.

6. No Warranties

All services and content are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • A partner search result is complete or correctly matched
  • Any fact remains accurate, complete, or current
  • The service will operate without interruption
  • The pages contain no bug, error, or security weakness

A charge may be filed, dismissed, sealed, or expunged after content is published. Gaps and delays can occur. Nothing here is an official statement by the Dickenson County Sheriff, a clerk, Virginia State Police, or another public body.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to court systems, Sheriff pages, Virginia agencies, legal-help organizations, and outside search companies. Those destinations are beyond our control. We are not responsible for their availability, fees, privacy practices, terms, or content. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, code, graphics, and logos belong to Dickenson County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, altered, distributed, or used to create derivative material without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the website or your breach of these terms, including related legal costs and fees.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms. A dispute arising from website use must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms at any time. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be suspended, restricted, or ended at any time and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue in force. The affected language will be narrowed only as far as needed to make it enforceable.
