Why We Built This Site
Virginia provides several public routes to justice records, but each route answers a different question. The Dickenson County Sheriff holds records that office creates. Haysi Regional Jail, operated by the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail Authority, creates separate custody and booking files. The clerks at the Dickenson County Judicial Center keep court dockets and dispositions. Virginia State Police CARE and CCRE handle statewide criminal-history requests, while VADOC and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry maintain other public systems. We bring the verified request steps, contacts, fees, and source links together while keeping those record types distinct.

What We Cannot Do
Dickenson County Criminal History is a privately run reference site. It is not connected with a Virginia court, the Sheriff, a town police department, or any state agency. Those limits mean:
- We do not retrieve a person's criminal record or perform an official background check
- We cannot submit a records request, expungement petition, or other filing for a visitor
- We have no authority to issue a certified court paper, rap sheet, or criminal record
- We cannot provide legal advice about the effect of a charge or case
- We cannot promise that every phone number, fee, address, or procedure remains current
Only the issuing office, such as the Sheriff, a court clerk, or Virginia State Police CARE/CCRE, can provide an official criminal record. This resource can identify that office, but it cannot issue the document.
Search Partners
Outside providers power search boxes that appear on some pages. Each provider controls its service, results, prices, and terms. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee for us, which supports free access to the reference material. We neither set the provider's charge nor determine the records returned.
